Episode 43: Inside the World of Miami’s Luxury Nightlife Evolution with David Saada

Whether he is building the Miami or Mykonos nightlife scene, arranging an extraordinary trip, or simply helping a client navigate the world, David Saada’s philosophy is remarkably consistent: relationships matter, details matter, and there is always another adventure ahead.

Miami’s transformation into one of the world’s most dynamic luxury destinations is a story of changing tastes, new concepts, and the people who helped shape its social scene. Few have had a closer view of that evolution than David Saada, a Miami nightlife veteran, founder of FDS INC, lifestyle manager, and longtime leadership member of the Riviera Dining Group team. On Luxury Travel Innovators, David joined me to reflect on the city’s rise, the evolution of nightlife and membership culture, and the increasingly personalized nature of luxury travel.

David’s journey began when he moved from France to Miami in 2005, bringing with him a background in fashion and an early connection to nightlife through his family. His entry into Miami’s scene came through Vita, where he was brought on as a host before becoming the frontman of Bâoli Miami. When Vita transformed into Bâoli during Art Basel in 2012, the concept introduced something distinctly different to Miami: a French-inspired supper-club atmosphere where dinner could seamlessly turn into a night out, complete with live entertainment, music, and an energetic social scene.

At the time, Miami Beach looked very different. The city was still highly seasonal, with nightlife and hospitality largely concentrated around a handful of destinations. David remembers Miami operating primarily from Halloween through Easter, with a quieter summer punctuated by European travelers. Today, he sees virtually no comparison. Conventions, new restaurants, hotels, residences, and members’ clubs have helped create a year-round luxury ecosystem, with demand extending well beyond the traditional winter season.

That evolution is reflected in the growth of Riviera Dining Group and MILA, which became a defining chapter in David’s career. When MILA reopened following the pandemic, it quickly established a new approach to Miami nightlife. Rather than relying solely on the bottle-service and late-night club culture that had defined an earlier era, MILA combined high-end dining with a more sophisticated lounge atmosphere, music, entertainment, and a sense of community. The concept resonated with travelers and locals alike, and the restaurant has since become one of the group’s most prominent successes.

As the group expanded into additional concepts including AVA, Claudie, Casa Neos, and membership-driven spaces, David saw another important shift taking place: the rise of the private club as an extension of hospitality. But he points out that membership is far from a one-size-fits-all formula. Different clubs attract different communities, and successful programming has to reflect the interests and expectations of those members. At MILA, for example, membership provides access across the group’s properties as well as priority reservations during major Miami events such as Art Basel, Formula 1, and the Miami International Boat Show.

“I believe in that, that every day, every day it’s a new adventure.”

That philosophy also shapes David’s work outside the restaurant group. Today, he manages a select portfolio of private clients, helping with everything from villa and hotel bookings to detailed itineraries and traveling alongside clients when needed. His clients often know where they want to go, but rely on his knowledge to determine how and when to make the trip happen. Sometimes that means steering them toward a different destination or season, while still recognizing that the final decision belongs to the client.

His approach is perhaps best illustrated by one particularly memorable request: helping a client arrange a parachute jump from a plane into Saint-Tropez during the pandemic. After nine months of coordination and obtaining approval from the city mayor, David made it happen.

To close our conversation, we ended with LTI’s signature rapid fire questions. For personal travel, David is excited to take his partner to South Africa (his number one destination) for the first time. Looking at the past, David misses visiting travel agents in person and the excitement of trip planning with another person. For future innovation in the travel industry, he hopes for Miami to evolve into more of a major hub, with Concorde routes spanning the globe.
